Rebuilding trust through shared making

The KU Leuven Library team came to the studio after a difficult year, uncertain about what a shared creative day could bring. ARTKOM held the process gently. Trust arrived not as an announcement, but as a by-product of working alongside one another in the same material.

The Context

A university library team carrying the weight of a demanding period, in need of a moment together that could hold both the difficulty and the possibility of moving forward as a group.

The Invitation

To offer a space where reconnection could happen without pressure — where each participant could contribute at their own pace, and where the day would leave something visible behind.

What ARTKOM Created

A guided participatory art process combining individual work and a collective outcome. Small material invitations opened the door for those who felt hesitant. The larger work grew as the group grew into it.

Inside the Process

Early caution gave way to attention. Attention gave way to contribution. The group began to notice one another differently — through the marks each person made, through the choices they returned to, through the quiet ways they helped the shared piece take form.

What Became Visible

A team that had spent a difficult year saw what could still be made together. The final work held every contribution and did not flatten any of them. Trust arrived as something the process had already been building.

Client or Participant Reflection

As progress was made on the project, trust also grew between us. The shared experience helped us reconnect and revealed what becomes possible when everyone brings something unique.

What This Shows

About ARTKOM's practice.

ARTKOM's capacity to hold groups in fragile or transitional moments — offering a participatory process that supports reconnection without forcing it, and that leaves a shared visual outcome the team can carry forward.
